Ft Mark James as one of the 100 judges
Mark “#ManInTheHat” James is a singer teacher and vocal coach based in the rural village of Tisbury nr Salisbury Wiltshire. He works with students that range in experience from first time beginners to recording artists. He specialises in teaching healthy singing using long established and newly created techniques designed to aid students to understand processes needed easily and quickly.
Through private training Mark has gained a diploma in Musical Theatre Performance and also a Diploma in Singing Teaching with the Voice College, where he was also nominated for the PJ Proby Student of the year award it 2017. Using his training he has now designed his own process of teaching and techniques that have been independently reviewed and make the vocal system easy to understand and apply to singing
He teaches both from JNX Productions Music School, the school he set up in 2015, online, at schools and also in workshops all over the country.
Mark is also the founder of ROK!T choir, a pop and rock based choir with over 100 members already joined in the first 6 months of conception. ROK!T continues to grow rapidly with 2 more choirs expected to start by the summer of 2019. As well as ROK!T mark also runs the Tisbury Community Choir.
In 2018 Mark gained the professional name 'ManInTheHat' by appearing on the BBC One Prime Time TV show ‘All Together Now’ as one of the 100 Judges. During the show Mark was able to work with some of the best talents in the business including Geri Horner (Ginger Spice) and Rob Beckett (Comedian)
Performance wise Mark has mainly performed in and around London at venues such as the Hilton Waldorf Hotel for London Fashion Week and Pizza Express Live in Holborn.
2019 has brought more exciting roles for Mark as he started working along side Evolved Artists Management company, a UK based agency working with talent all over the world including charting and Grammy nominated artists, where he helps to he assess talent for new signings, coaches currently signed artists on vocal health and acts a vocal mentor for those looking to start in the business.
In April of 2014, Dear Mother,a one act play by Mark was published first by Magic Oxygen Publishing and more recently by Stage Scripts Ltd. Dear Mother is the story of a young boy and his experiences of life during the first world war. Told through letters to his mother, it shows how the innocents of youth can be destroyed by the harsh reality of war. Dear Mother has now been performed at various festivals and theatre all over the world and has been nominated for 16 awards, winning 8 (Including a best actor award at the Dorset Drama League Festival for Mark himself)
In 2018 Mark signed with Ugly Modelling Agency based in London. And has now worked for companies such as River Island’s Big and Tall Model range of clothing.
